2nd Touch Up (1-1.5 yrs after initial appt)
Annual refresh touch-up session 1-1.5 years after initial permanent makeup appointment. Offered on-site by Charm Brows & Beauty
Booking for this service continues on the Charm Brows & Beauty website (opens in a new tab).
About this service
Semi-permanent pigment fades. Around 1 to 1.5 years after your initial work, your brows will have softened noticeably — still there, but lighter and less defined than they were. This appointment refreshes them.
Offered on-site by Charm Brows & Beauty.
Because the shape and structure already exist, it's a refresh rather than a rebuild: pigment is re-saturated, the shape tidied, and the colour corrected for whatever tone the old pigment has faded towards.
Coming back at this point is far easier than waiting until the brows have gone almost completely.
What's included
- Assessment of how the original work has faded and what tone it left
- Shape reviewed and adjusted if your face or preferences have changed
- Colour matched and corrected for the existing faded pigment
- Numbing for comfort
- Pigment re-saturated across the brow
- Aftercare product and instructions
What to expect at your appointment
Allow about an hour and a half. Your artist looks at what remains of the original work, discusses whether you want the same shape or something adjusted, and matches the colour to work with the faded pigment underneath.
After numbing, the brows are re-saturated. Healing follows the familiar pattern: bold, flaking, faint, then settled at four to six weeks.
Who it's best for
Anyone whose permanent brows are 1 to 1.5 years old and have faded. If it's been considerably longer, or if the old pigment has changed colour significantly, your artist may recommend colour correction instead — mention how long it's been when you request the appointment.
Caring for it at home
Keep the area dry for the first 7 to 10 days: no soaking, swimming, saunas, steam or heavy sweating, and no makeup over the brows. Don't pick or scratch as the area flakes — pulling the flakes off takes pigment with them.
Apply the aftercare product exactly as your artist directs, sleep on your back where possible, and keep the area out of direct sun. Once healed, sunscreen is the single biggest factor in how long your brows keep their colour.
Tips from our stylists
- Don't wait until the brows have faded completely; a refresh is easier than starting again
- Tell your artist if you'd like the shape changed — this is a natural point to adjust it
- Mention if the old pigment has gone warm, grey or blue; that affects the colour choice
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine and fish oil for 24 hours beforehand
- Sunscreen on healed brows genuinely extends the time between refreshes
Common questions
- How often do I need this?
- Most people refresh every 1 to 1.5 years, depending on skin type, sun exposure and how quickly their pigment fades.
- What if it's been much longer than that?
- Tell us how long it's been. If the old pigment has changed colour, colour correction may be the appropriate service instead.
- Can I change the shape?
- Yes, within what the existing pigment allows. Your artist will tell you what's realistic.
- How long does it take?
- About an hour and a half.
