About this service

A facial targeted at congested, breakout-prone skin. It combines deep cleansing, exfoliation to clear the pore lining, thorough extractions and calming products to reduce visible inflammation.

One facial won't clear acne. What it does is clear existing congestion, calm the skin, and give you a realistic home routine — and it's the consistency of that routine, appointment after appointment, that changes acne-prone skin over months.

If your acne is severe, painful or cystic, please see a doctor or dermatologist alongside this. Facials are supportive, not medical treatment.

Every facial starts with a skin consultation, and your esthetician will adjust the products and steps to what your skin actually needs on the day. Please tell us about any medication, recent treatments, allergies, or if you're pregnant, as some products and steps may need to be changed or left out.

What's included

  • Detailed consultation about your breakouts, triggers and current products
  • Deep double cleanse
  • Exfoliation chosen for congested skin
  • Steam and thorough extractions
  • Calming, anti-inflammatory mask
  • Light non-comedogenic moisturiser and SPF
  • A realistic home routine

What to expect at your appointment

Allow an hour. Your esthetician examines your skin and asks about your breakouts and products before starting.

After cleansing and exfoliation, steam softens the skin and extractions are done thoroughly. A calming mask reduces redness, then a light moisturiser and SPF finish.

Skin can look pink and feel tender for a few hours, and some people purge slightly over the following days before improving.

Who it's best for

Congested, oily or breakout-prone skin with blackheads and whiteheads. Not appropriate on active cystic acne or if you're using isotretinoin — tell us if you are, as extractions and exfoliation are unsafe on that medication.

Caring for it at home

Don't pick, however tempting. Avoid makeup for the rest of the day, skip the gym and sauna that evening, and leave acids and retinoids for 48 hours.

Long term: a gentle cleanser twice daily, a non-comedogenic moisturiser, sunscreen, and consistency. Changing products constantly is one of the most common reasons acne-prone skin doesn't improve.

Tips from our stylists

  • Book a course rather than a one-off; acne responds to consistency
  • Tell us if you use isotretinoin or prescription retinoids — this changes what's safe
  • Don't book right before an event; allow a week
  • Stop using scrubs and drying spot treatments that strip the skin
  • Keep your home routine simple and stick with it
  • See a doctor as well for painful or cystic acne

Common questions

Will one facial clear my acne?
No. It clears existing congestion and calms the skin. Real change comes from regular appointments plus a consistent home routine over months.
Can I have this on isotretinoin?
No — exfoliation and extractions aren't safe on isotretinoin. Tell us if you're taking it or have recently stopped.
Will my skin break out afterwards?
Some skins purge for a few days after thorough extractions before improving.
How often should I come?
Every three to four weeks while working on active congestion.
