About this service
The back is one of the most congestion-prone areas on the body and one of the hardest to reach properly yourself. It gets sweat, friction from clothing, and product residue running down from hair washing — and almost no attention.
A back facial treats it the way a facial treats the face: proper cleansing, exfoliation, steam, extractions where needed, and a mask suited to the skin.
It's the most effective single treatment for back congestion, and it makes an immediate visible difference.
Every treatment starts with a consultation. Please tell us about any medication, recent treatments, allergies, or if you're pregnant, as some steps may need to be adjusted.
What's included
- Skin assessment of the back and shoulders
- Deep cleanse
- Exfoliation across the back and shoulders
- Steam to soften the skin
- Extractions where appropriate
- Purifying mask, then moisturiser
What to expect at your appointment
Allow an hour. You lie face down and comfortably covered while your esthetician cleanses and exfoliates the back and shoulders.
Steam softens the skin, then extractions are done where needed — the back can feel more sensitive than the face in places, and your esthetician will adjust. A purifying mask follows, then moisturiser.
Redness after extractions is normal for a few hours.
Who it's best for
Back congestion, blackheads, breakouts and rough or bumpy texture — and anyone with an event where their back will be visible. Not suitable on broken, sunburnt or actively inflamed skin, or with isotretinoin use.
Caring for it at home
Wear loose, clean cotton clothing for the rest of the day and avoid the gym, sauna and swimming that evening — sweat on freshly extracted skin causes breakouts.
Afterwards: rinse your back properly after washing your hair so conditioner doesn't sit on it, change out of sweaty clothes promptly, and use a gentle exfoliating body wash a couple of times a week.
Tips from our stylists
- Rinse your back thoroughly after conditioning your hair — residue causes breakouts
- Change out of gym clothes straight after exercising
- Book two weeks before an event where your back will be on show
- Wear loose cotton for the rest of the day
- Every four to six weeks keeps back congestion under control
