About this service
A professional chemical peel uses acids at a strength unavailable in home products to loosen the bonds between dead surface cells, so they shed and reveal smoother, more even skin underneath.
Your esthetician chooses the acid and strength for your skin and concern — texture, pigmentation, congestion or dullness — and can treat either the face or the neck. Strength is built gradually across appointments rather than going as strong as possible on day one.
Expect some flaking for a few days. That's the peel working, not a reaction, and how much you flake varies a lot between people.
Every treatment starts with a skin consultation. Please tell us about any medication, recent treatments, allergies, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, as some steps may need to be changed or left out.
What's included
- Consultation to select the right acid and strength
- Skin prepped and degreased
- Peel solution applied and monitored, then neutralised
- Calming, hydrating products applied
- Mineral SPF
- Detailed aftercare instructions
What to expect at your appointment
Allow 45 minutes. Your esthetician degreases the skin, then applies the peel and watches it closely, asking how it feels — tingling and warmth are normal.
It's neutralised at the right point, then calming products and sunscreen are applied. Skin looks pink immediately, tightens over the next day, and flakes for roughly three to five days.
Who it's best for
Uneven texture, pigmentation, dullness and congestion. Not suitable if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, using isotretinoin, have active cold sores, or have broken or sunburnt skin. Tell us about retinoids, recent waxing or laser treatments — all affect whether a peel is safe.
Caring for it at home
Do not pick or pull at flaking skin — this is how peels cause pigmentation and scarring. Let it shed on its own.
No makeup for 24 hours, no acids or retinoids for a week, no gym, sauna, steam or swimming for 48 hours. Sunscreen every day without exception; peeled skin burns easily and sun exposure now undoes the whole treatment.
Use a gentle cleanser and plenty of moisturiser while you're flaking.
Tips from our stylists
- Book at least two weeks before any event — you will flake
- Never pick at peeling skin
- Stop retinoids a week before and a week after
- Sunscreen daily is essential, not optional, after a peel
- Build strength gradually over a course rather than starting strong
- Avoid waxing the treated area for two weeks either side
Common questions
- How much will I peel?
- It varies. Most people flake lightly for three to five days; some barely visibly. Neither means it didn't work.
- Does it hurt?
- Tingling and warmth during application are normal. Your esthetician monitors it throughout and neutralises at the right point.
- Can I have a peel while pregnant?
- No — please tell us, and we'll recommend a hydrating facial instead.
- How many do I need?
- A course of three to six, spaced two to four weeks apart, with strength increased gradually.
- Face or neck?
- Either — tell us which area you'd like treated when you request your appointment.
