About this service

Permanent makeup colour correction addresses work that has healed or faded badly — brows that have turned grey, blue, orange or pink, shapes that are too thick, too dark or asymmetrical, or work done elsewhere that you're unhappy living with.

Offered on-site by Charm Brows & Beauty.

It's the most technical service in this category, because your artist is working over pigment they didn't place, of unknown composition, at an unknown depth. Old pigment can't simply be covered — it has to be neutralised with carefully chosen corrective tones, and that takes skill and often more than one session.

Your artist will be honest with you about what's achievable. Sometimes the right answer is saline removal first, then new work later.

What's included

  • Detailed consultation covering when, where and how the original work was done
  • Honest assessment of what can be corrected and how many sessions it needs
  • A plan agreed with you before any work starts
  • Corrective pigments chosen to neutralise the unwanted tone
  • Reshaping within the limits of the existing pigment
  • Numbing, aftercare product and full instructions

What to expect at your appointment

Allow around three hours, and be prepared for more than one session. Your artist starts by examining the existing pigment closely in good light and asking about its history.

They'll explain what's realistic — including if removal is the better route — and only proceed once you've agreed the plan. Corrective pigment is then applied to neutralise the tone and rebuild the shape.

Correction healing can look strange in the middle stages. Trust the four-to-six-week mark.

Who it's best for

Anyone unhappy with existing permanent brows — wrong tone, wrong shape, too dark, uneven — whether done here or elsewhere. If the existing work is very dark or very large, saline removal may need to come first, and your artist will tell you so.

Caring for it at home

Keep the area dry for the first 7 to 10 days: no soaking, swimming, saunas, steam or heavy sweating, and no makeup over the brows. Don't pick or scratch as the area flakes — pulling the flakes off takes pigment with them.

Apply the aftercare product exactly as your artist directs, sleep on your back where possible, and keep the area out of direct sun. Once healed, sunscreen is the single biggest factor in how long your brows keep their colour.

Correction often needs more than one session. Leave at least 8 weeks between sessions so the skin recovers fully.

Tips from our stylists

  • Bring details of the original work: where, when, and what technique if you know
  • Bring photos from before the original work if you have them
  • Be prepared to hear that removal is the better first step
  • Expect more than one session; correction can't safely be rushed
  • Don't have anyone else attempt a cover-up in the meantime
  • Allow at least 8 weeks between correction sessions

Common questions

Why can't the old colour just be covered?
Old pigment shows through whatever goes over it. It has to be neutralised with corrective tones, which is why this is skilled, staged work.
Can any brow be corrected?
Not all. Very dark or very large existing work may need saline removal first. Your artist will assess and tell you honestly.
How many sessions will I need?
Often more than one, spaced at least 8 weeks apart. Your artist will estimate at the consultation.
Can you correct work done at another studio?
Yes — that's most of what this service is. Bring as much detail about the original work as you can.
How long does it take?
Around three hours per session.
