Saline solution removal for unwanted permanent makeup Offered on-site by Charm Brows & Beauty

About this service
Saline removal lifts unwanted permanent makeup pigment out of the skin using a saline solution rather than laser. The area is opened in the same way as a tattoo and the solution draws pigment upward, which then leaves the skin as it scabs and heals.
Offered on-site by Charm Brows & Beauty.
It's gradual work. Each session lightens the pigment; most cases need several sessions spaced 8 weeks apart, and how many depends on how much pigment there is, how deep it was placed and how your skin responds.
Saline is generally preferred over laser for brows because it lifts a wider range of pigment colours and doesn't risk turning some pigments dark.
What's included
- Consultation and honest assessment of how many sessions are likely
- Numbing for comfort
- Saline solution worked into the pigmented area
- Aftercare product and detailed healing instructions
- Guidance on spacing your next session
What to expect at your appointment
Allow about an hour. Your artist assesses the pigment and explains realistically how much lightening one session will give — usually noticeable rather than complete.
After numbing, the saline is worked into the area. It will scab over the following week, and the pigment lifts as the scabs come away naturally.
Don't pick the scabs. Picking is the main reason removal results disappoint.
Who it's best for
Anyone wanting unwanted permanent brow makeup lightened or removed, and anyone who needs existing work faded before new work can be done properly. Not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Caring for it at home
Keep the area completely dry for 7 to 10 days and let it scab and flake naturally — do not pick, scratch or help it along, because the pigment leaves with the scabs.
No makeup on the area, no swimming, sauna, steam or heavy sweating, and no sun. Apply the aftercare product exactly as directed. Wait at least 8 weeks before your next session so the skin recovers fully.
Tips from our stylists
- Expect several sessions; one rarely removes everything
- Absolutely do not pick the scabs — this is the single most important rule
- Leave at least 8 weeks between sessions
- Ask your artist how much lightening to realistically expect per session
- If you plan new brow work afterwards, discuss the timeline at the consultation
- Keep the area out of the sun throughout the process
Common questions
- How many sessions will I need?
- It varies with the amount and depth of pigment. Several sessions spaced 8 weeks apart is typical; your artist will estimate at the consultation.
- Will it remove the pigment completely?
- Often it lightens substantially rather than removing every trace. Your artist will be honest about what's realistic for your brows.
- Is saline better than laser?
- For brow pigment it's generally preferred, as it lifts a wider range of colours and avoids the risk of some pigments darkening under laser.
- Does it hurt?
- Numbing is used. The healing week is more uncomfortable than the appointment itself.
- How long does it take?
- About an hour per session.
