Children's Haircut
Gentle cuts for kids in a fun, comfortable environment
Request This ServiceAbout this service
Children's haircuts are done at your child's pace. Some children sit happily and enjoy the whole thing; others need the clippers explained, a look at the scissors first, or a parent's lap for the first few minutes. All of that is completely fine here.
Your stylist keeps the cut straightforward and quick, works around wriggling, and talks your child through what's happening so there are no surprises.
What's included
- A gentle, unhurried approach at your child's pace
- Shampoo if your child is comfortable with the basin
- Cut shaped to suit their hair and how you manage it at home
- Tidy finish around the ears and neckline
- Advice on brushing and washing between cuts
What to expect at your appointment
Allow about 30 minutes, though many cuts take less. Your stylist will say hello to your child first and let them settle before starting.
If your child would rather skip the basin, the cut can be done with a spray bottle instead. Parents are welcome to stay close by throughout.
Who it's best for
Children of any age, including first haircuts and children who have found haircuts stressful elsewhere. If your child is sensitive to noise, let us know and we can work with scissors instead of clippers where possible.
Caring for it at home
Use a gentle, tear-free shampoo and a detangling spray if their hair knots easily. Brush from the ends upwards rather than dragging from the roots — it hurts far less and keeps hair happier between visits.
Tips from our stylists
- Book a time of day when your child is usually settled rather than tired or hungry
- Tell them beforehand what's happening so it isn't a surprise
- Bring a favourite toy or something to watch if it helps them sit still
- Mention any sensitivities to noise or touch when you request the appointment
Common questions
- What age do you cut from?
- Any age, including first haircuts. Just let us know when you request the appointment so we can allow enough time.
- Can I stay with my child?
- Yes, and you're welcome to hold younger children on your lap if that helps them settle.
- What if my child won't sit still?
- That's normal and our stylists work around it. If it's really not happening on the day, we'll stop and you can come back another time.
- Do you use clippers?
- Only if the shape needs them and your child is comfortable. Tell us in advance if they'd rather we didn't.
