Full Highlights
Complete highlighting for maximum dimension
Request This ServiceAbout this service
Full highlights mean foils placed throughout your whole head — front, sides, back and through the interior — so the lightness reads consistently from every angle and from the root down.
This is the technique to choose when you want a genuine overall change in brightness rather than a few lighter pieces. Your stylist weaves the sections by hand, so the fineness of the weave and where the foils sit are both adjusted to your haircut and how you part your hair.
What's included
- Consultation about your current colour, target brightness and hair condition
- Foils woven and placed throughout the full head
- Development monitored so the lift is even
- Toner or gloss to set the final tone
- Shampoo, conditioning treatment and blow-dry finish
- Home care advice for maintaining tone
What to expect at your appointment
Allow around two and a half hours. After the consultation your stylist sections your hair and works through it methodically, weaving and foiling from the nape upwards.
The foils are left to develop and checked as the hair lifts, then rinsed out. A toner is applied to set the tone, followed by a conditioning treatment and a blow-dry.
Who it's best for
Anyone wanting a noticeably brighter overall result, blending grey across the whole head, or moving several shades lighter. It also suits hair that has been partially highlighted before and now looks uneven between the top and the back.
Caring for it at home
Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner made for coloured hair, and add a weekly mask to keep the lightened hair soft. Wash in cooler water, use heat protectant, and use a toning shampoo occasionally if your tone warms up.
With highlights running from the root, regrowth shows at around six to eight weeks — a Regrowth Touch-up or partial highlight keeps it looking fresh between full appointments.
Tips from our stylists
- Say how many shades lighter you want in plain terms and bring photos
- Mention any box dye or henna in your hair's history, even from years ago
- Ask about a bond-building treatment if your hair is fine or already lightened
- Book a toner between appointments to stop brassiness setting in
- Plan for regrowth at six to eight weeks so you're not caught out
Common questions
- What's the difference between full and partial highlights?
- Partial highlights cover the top, sides and around the face. Full highlights cover the entire head including the back and interior, so the result is even from every angle.
- How often should full highlights be redone?
- Every six to eight weeks if you want no visible regrowth, or longer with a partial highlight or root touch-up in between.
- Will highlights cover grey?
- Highlights blend grey rather than covering it solidly. If you want full coverage, your stylist will discuss a tint instead or alongside.
- How long does it take?
- Around two and a half hours, longer for very long or dense hair.
